Things You Want To Hear Upon Your 4-Yr Old's Completion of the Preschool Screening

"Do you realize how intelligent she is?"
"We don't normally see scores this high."
"She's extremely smart."
"I know she won't start in the fall but she's ready for kindergarten."
"This section here, she scored as a 6-year old; and that's because that's as high as it goes."
"Flynn's an excellent drawer."
"She counted up to thirty...then I had her stop."
"This shows she scored in the percentile rank of more than 99."

Wahooo!!! If Kieran took that preschool screening, they'd probably just say, "Wow, he has really nice hair." What a smarty you are Flynn! Way to make Mama proud:)

Awesome! My oldest was and still is my high acheiver. It's so nice to go to conferences and hear nothing but praises. It's truly a blessing-I am sure you know what a blessing Flynn is-but it sure is nice to hear it. Am I Right?
Happy Wednesday.

Amy-our insurance didn't cover speech either. Only the eval and then it would have been private pay. We had him assessed with our school district and he got free services with them. It's not based on income but need. Ian scored so incredibly low that he was qualified right away. At 18 months he wasn't even saying mama. He had his own language and it was so far off from sounding like actual words. They even looked into him being autistic which he is not. He was just severely delayed. (probably from his traumatic birth-my opinion only) We had an awesome speech therapist we saw at our home for 6 months and then we went to an elmentary school with another student. I am forever thankful for our therapist. She helped turn Ian from a frustrated screamer into a communicating wonderful little man. Life changed drastically over that year. Good luck with your little guy but I would see what your district offers. Not sure what it's like in your state but our district is one of the best for special needs.

Darn. Not till 3. We have a birth to 3 program and then they go into a 3-5 program. I don't blame you for wanting to start now. I understand the tantrums and frustration. We were there and it's such bliss when the communication clicks. Good luck and keep me informed.

That's great! My 4 year is a fast learner also! He can read like a 2nd grader they tell us! He has another year of preschool also...I afraid he will be "bored" in kindergarden but they tell us they will challenge him. We'll see what happens.
